What Tend Skin Lotionâ Can Really Do
In all instances of use, only a thin layer of Tend Skin Lotion is needed. To apply, use a cotton ball or similar applicator. To prevent unwanted peeling of skin, wear gloves or wash hands immediately after contact. Apply only to dry skin!
existing ingrown hair & razor bumps
Apply before sleep, in the morning after showering, and after your preferred method of hair removal. Do not rinse. Tend Skin Lotion needs undisturbed time to be effective. After product dries, less than 1 minute, you may apply moisturizer or cologne over the product.
Apply after shaving to DRY skin to reduce post-shave redness and to maintain clarity from razor bumps and ingrown hair. Moisturizer or cologne may be applied over the product.
You can use the product instead of powder to keep the wax from sticking to the skin. Apply before applying wax, just enough to dampen the skin. Allow it to dry for 5 to 10 seconds, then apply wax and perform hair removal as normal. After waxing, apply another thin layer Tend Skin Lotion to the treated skin surface to reduce appearance of redness and post-wax bumping.
Apply before electrolysis procedure to clean the area and create a contrast for easier visibility when using electrolysis needles. After procedure, apply another thin layer to clear redness and minimize the appearance next-day bumping.
After procedure, apply a thin layer to clear redness and minimize next-day bumping. To ensure full penetration of laser light, do not use before procedure.
Apply to the face to cleanse. For mild exfoliation (24-48 hours), leave the product on the skin.
For Best Results
find out how sensitive your client is
Perform a test patch. If you are using Tend Skin Lotion for existing ingrown hairs and razor bumps, dab a small amount on a small square of skin and wait 5 minutes. Tend Skin Lotion is solvent based which causes sensitivity reactions in a good number of people. If you have no reaction, proceed with full application. If you are using Tend Skin Lotion to reduce appearance of redness and bumping from hair removal procedures, try a test patch after a hair removal procedure.
Blades are made from low-grade steel. They are designed to get dull fast so you are forced to buy new ones. If you use a dull blade you may find that Tend Skin Lotion does not work to clear the appearance of ingrown hair and razor bumps. The blade should always feel like new.
This product is solvent based. If the cap is not tightly sealed after each use, the alcohol will evaporate and will shorten the product’s shelf life!
Precautions
Do not use Tend Skin Lotion if you have a true allergy to aspirin. Symptoms include itching, hives, redness, and difficulty breathing.
Tend Skin Lotion has not been tested on pregnant women, therefore we advise that pregnant women avoid use of this product without first checking with their physician.
Keep away from children!
Do not ingest Tend Skin Lotion. In the case of ingestion, contact your local poison control center immediately.
Avoid applying Tend Skin Lotion on the area about your eyes. If you get Tend Skin Lotion in your, flush with lots of running water.
Tend Skin Lotion can remove dye from non-colorfast clothing and carpeting. It also damages leather and finished woodwork.
Tend Skin Lotion can tarnish silver and can give a reddish tinge to some gold-plated items.
Do not use Tend Skin Lotion within one week of having a “medical” or salon strength exfoliant treatment (AHA’s, Glycolic, etc) unless otherwise advised by your doctor. The combination of agents can lead to chemical burning of the skin. The same may hold true with Accutane treatment.
We strongly recommend against the use of abrasive scrubbing (loofahs, buff puffs, shower puffs, etc.) They lead to increased ingrown hair formation and they work against the product.
facial application for women
Apply a very thin layer of product after facial hair removal. The entire face can be done using a cotton tipped application dampened only once with Tend Skin Lotion. Facial hairs are thicker than body hair and their removal causes larger wounds, which leads to more of a stinging feeling with the product.
We recommend that chin hairs (or any hairs) not be tweezed. This increases ingrown hair problems. We advise seeking electrolysis or a laser treatment for permanent hair removal.
Tend Skin Lotion may cause your hands to peel. The product has exfoliant properties. If you have rough, scaly hands, this effect is beneficial. Wash hands after contact or wear gloves while applying product if this effect is undesired.
Troubleshooting
ingrown hairs that do not want to lift
a) Long existing ingrown hairs: If ingrowns have been present for several months or longer, the product will need more time to show results. Ingrown hairs will continue to grow even though they are turned under the skin. People have reported finding ingrown hairs up to one inch and longer! If this is the case, the hairs can be gently teased to the surface. Do not tweeze the hair! Just lift the end out from under the skin, and then remove it using your preferred method of hair removal. Tend Skin Lotion will keep you free of ingrown hairs once this initial
“lifting” is completed.
b) Dull razor blades: People having difficulty with ingrown hairs and razor bumps should use a fresh razor blade each time, or every other time, they shave. The blade must not exhibit any drag across the skin.
c) Epilators/Electronic Hair Removal Devices: Conversations with many individuals who have bought these devices have convinced us that they can make ingrown hair problems worse. They cause surface injury to the skin.
Can damage follicles and make ingrown hair problems worse. Do not tweeze!
You should have no burning or irritation when applying Tend Skin Lotion. If your skin is wet when you apply Tend Skin Lotion it may burn. Make sure your skin is dry. An “after shave” sting is normal. If you experience anything greater than that, please contact us at 800-940-8423.
In cold climates you may see crystal formation in the bottle. This is normal and does not affect the product’s performance. The crystals will disappear after several days at room temperature.

Air Shave Gel is made from the finest ingredient combination we could develop. It far exceeds the lubricity of any shave gel on the market. Try rubbing it between your fingers and see for yourself. It simply doesn’t dry out!
The gel is so effective at reducing friction you will be less likely to cut or scrape the skin. This is very important in helping to minimize ingrown hairs/razor bumps. Air Shave Gel also prevents “afternoon nubs” on women’s legs due to the closeness of the shave.
Men, try it with the new Panasonic or Norelco wet/dry electric shaver in the shower! You’ll shave closer than ever!
Wash the area to be shaved, and leave moist. Apply the gel sparingly. Air Shave Gel does not lather. You won’t need very much. An 8oz bottle should last the average woman at least three months, and the average man even longer.

A question always asked of us is,"How does Tend Skin® Lotion work?"
We have been working with Tend Skin® Lotion since 1985. We continue to be amazed every time someone affirms the product's effectiveness.
No other product in the world can do all that Tend Skin® Lotion does, especially when it comes to ingrown hairs and razor bumps (Pseudofolliculitis barbae, PFB).
Razor bumps (pseudofolliculitis barbae, pronounced "soo-doe-fol-li-cu-li'-tis): Razor bumps are created when the growing beard hairs exit the skin, curl over, and burrow into the adjacent skin. This creates a foreign body reaction resulting in an unsightly "bump". Razor bumps form on the beard areas of men-mostly Black men and about 15-20% of Caucasian men. Occurrence varies with nationality.
Ingrown Hairs: Ingrown hairs form when hairs, growing back after shaving, waxing, electrolysis, or other hair removal method, and fail to grow out of the skin. The hairs curl over inside the follicles under the skin (just like the "razor bump" hairs curl above the skin). By curling, the hair creates a foreign body reaction in the hair follicle. The inflammation in the follicle then creates and unsightly "bump".
