What type of system do you use?
The waxing units are called “Clean and Easy”, it is a hot wax roll-on system. The wax is naturally blended from beeswax, honey and pine rosins. The sensitive formula is for delicate skin featuring chamomile and azulene. Inverness Clean & Easy wax contains ingredients that help prevent the growth of bacteria and the Clean & Easy roll-on system definitely does not spread bacteria.
Can anyone have waxing? Most people can have waxing services performed. Those that are using Retin-A or Renova cannot have these services unless you discontinue use of these products for two (2) weeks prior to having the service performed.
Pre- and Post Procedures for Waxing
What To Do Before Your Waxing Service:
-
DO NOT apply oils or lotions to the area to be waxed.
-
- DO NOT use any AHA’s or exfoliating products 2 days prior to service.
-
- NOTIFY YOUR AESTHETICIAN if you are using RETIN-A or RENOVA.
-
WARNING: We will NOT be able to perform waxing services on ANYONE using RETIN-A or RENOVA within the last two (2) weeks. Scarring and lifting of the skin may occur if a waxing service is performed on an area where RETIN-A or RENOVA is used.
What To Do After Your Waxing Service:
- AVOID application of HEAT to the waxed area for 12 to 24 hours. This includes hot baths, sauna and steam baths.
- AVOID SUNBATHING for 12 to 24 hours after waxing. This includes any strong UV light exposure or sun bed treatments.
- AVOID applying highly FRAGRANCED products to the waxed area. This includes perfume, scented body lotions, anti-perspirants, cosmetics or feminine hygiene sprays. Only use the professional products recommended by your aesthetician who performed the waxing service.
- AVOID using HARSH ABRASIVES or exfoliators in the waxed area. This includes any AHA (glycolic acids) products. The only exception is an AHA product recommended by your aesthetician. If you are prone to in-grown hairs, loofah mittens or exfoliant scrubs can be used ONCE the hair has begun to grow back.
- AVOID applying high SPF SUN BLOCKS to the waxed area for 12 to 24 hours. After the 12 to 24 hours, a sun block must be worn. Sunscreen chemicals can be irritating to the newly waxed skin. This includes Self-Tanning products and Tan Accelerators.
- Any REDNESS of the skin should disappear within 6 to 8 hours after the waxing treatment. Slight redness is normal and indicates that the hair was removed from the root; rather than superficially broken off, as in shaving. An EGF cream or gel can be applied to the area to accelerate the healing process. (Available through your aesthetician)
For BEST
RESULTS repeat your professional waxing every 4 to 6 weeks. Because the hair growth rate is different on each person, you may need to come in before or after the 4 to 6 week time period.
When should I wax, before or after facial?
It is recommended that you wax prior to your skin care treatment. In the event that you are having an intensive skin peel, waxing should be performed 2 - 3 days prior to your peel. Will I be irritated or have any breakouts after my waxing?
If you follow the above listed instructions, you should not experience any problems. We take every precaution to avoid any possible problems, however, some skins are sensitive and are prone to irritation and breakouts. Notify your aesthetician should you have any problems and they can recommend a product to calm down the irritation.
